Surfshark now got a "fake news" warning feature Reliant on propornot.com which already in history marked news as Fake which did come out as true.

Literarily no one of the customer base Liked that.

I mean they even offer an antivirus now. Antivirus companies that are offering a VPN is pretty common, but a VPN company that offers an antivirus?

I don't know what the Surfshark antivirus is worth though, I couldn't find any information about the engine used 🤔 (I have Surfshark, but not the One version)

They use avira SDK see here surfshark doesnt develope much bythemself it seems NORD VPN even got the same bugs so they seem to share code.

According to the SurfShark site yesterday the AV still doesn't have background protection for Windows which for all intents & purposes makes it useless? I gave up on the VPN a while ago as the GU was cluttered & adding more makes it bloatware. For me less is more, simplicity & minimal but needed features are what I look for.

Quote from their website:

What about Surfshark users’ data?

Highlighting that Surfshark and Nord Security are remaining autonomous companies, there will be no changes in how we secure our user data, even how little we have it. There will be no changes in Surfshark’s Terms of Service or Privacy Policy.

I know , but then explain to me why they share the same bugs ? like not even "similiar" ones the exact same bugs.

Example
Surfshark had from December to february a bug which logged you randomly out which made the killswitch DEACTIVATE ITSELF and fail that way aka exposing your real IP even with the killswitch fully enabled.
it was fixed in february after 3 months.
and suddenly... Nord VPN got the EXACT same bug conciedence ?
Never had this bug happen on any of my other VPN.

I don't know what the reason is, I just wanted to share what both companies are stating.

their "official" word is this so just happily exclude your AV and trust them...

I just visited the VirusTotal link. Yesterday it was detected by 13 vendors. When I reanalysed it, it was only detected by 6.
3.4.4 is actually 0/68
( newest version ) they did something weird on 3.4.2 , 3.4.3 also gets detected but not by so many AV , and 3.4.4 is clean it seems
