Good config. You may try windows built in back and restore option or also u have an option for cloud backup like skydrive , googledrive, Dropbox etc.. If u want a software then u may choose

• Cobian Backup
• Todo Backup Free
• Crash plan

At minimum, you should be able to create TWO forms of recovery using the built-in features of Windows 7 Backup and Recovery (Control Panel).

As for free imaging backup software I would add Macrium Reflect to the above mentioned. Personally I have good impression of Clonezilla, Paragon and Macrium.

And for data backup to external HD I like PureSync and SyncBackFree (2BrightSparks). Now I use PureSync in mirror mode.

A good idea is to use cloud storages like:
Google Drive - up to 15 GB free atm
Microsoft SkyDrive - up to 7 GB free atm
ADrive - 50 GB free though AFAIK its freemium is not so convenient and reliable as others.

Be sure to encrypt ur " some important files" with 7-zip ( supports AES-256) before u send them in cloud
Wuala - Secure Cloud Storage is one of secure cloud service.

Don't trust any "cloud" storage or cloud related stuff. just encrypt & be safe & be sure never decrypt ur files in cloud
