If someone uses Google Chrome for a long time and now wants to switch to Edge, he can also sign into the Edge with the same credentials that he signed into the Chrome, to get back his bookmarks, etc., in the Edge, right?

Not quite - you don't log into Edge with the same credentials as you use in Google Chrome. However if you keep Google Chrome installed and then install/upgrade the new Edge you can import from the profile on your PC. When you launch the browser for the first time, Edge Chromium will ask if you want to sync from Chrome.
If the first import doesn't work or you skipped over it you can manually import. Click on the three horizontal dots in the top-right corner of your window and select Settings (look for the gear icon). From the profiles tab, press Import Browser Data.

As already explained by others, Chrome is a different ecosystem to Edge (Microsoft's browser), therefore your Google account credentials cannot be used to Sign in to Edge.
Instead you need to Import your data (so don't uninstalled Chrome just yet)
