AV-TEST The best Windows antivirus software for home users: April 2022

Disclaimer
  1. This test shows how an antivirus behaves with certain threats, in a specific environment and under certain conditions.
We encourage you to compare these results with others and take informed decisions on what security products to use.
Before buying an antivirus you should consider factors such as price, ease of use, compatibility, and support. Installing a free trial version allows an antivirus to be tested in everyday use before purchase.

During March and April 2022 we continuously evaluated 18 home user security products using their default settings. We always used the most current publicly-available version of all products for the testing. They were allowed to update themselves at any time and query their in-the-cloud services. We focused on realistic test scenarios and challenged the products against real-world threats. Products had to demonstrate their capabilities using all components and protection layers.

Looks like most products missed a few zero days in March. It seems only Avast/AVG, Kaspersky and Trend Micro detected 100% zero-day in March. Of course, it doesn't mean they are better than the rest.
My Avast/AVG's web browsing experience for some reason never matches with AV-Test. In my test, browsing is very fast, unlike what their test shows every time.

Interesting to see, because only Avg received 5.5 from performance :/

Because you can't have EVERYTHING as a "top product". The whole point of these tests is to see what's better than the others. If the margins are so slim that EVERYTHING is a "top product" you need to expand your testing (use more samples, etc) or become more stringent as to what qualifies as "top".

It's like going into a store and asking "What's your best X?" "Oh, they're ALL the best, sir!" Yeah, that's when you stop trusting that person immediately.

Also, let's not forget that TotalAV is a complete scam AV, and even having it tested is a joke, let alone rating it a "top product".
