AV-TEST The best Windows antivirus software for home users: (June 2022)

Disclaimer
  1. This test shows how an antivirus behaves with certain threats, in a specific environment and under certain conditions.
We encourage you to compare these results with others and take informed decisions on what security products to use.
Before buying an antivirus you should consider factors such as price, ease of use, compatibility, and support. Installing a free trial version allows an antivirus to be tested in everyday use before purchase.

During May and June 2022 we continuously evaluated 19 home user security products using their default settings. We always used the most current publicly-available version of all products for the testing. They were allowed to update themselves at any time and query their in-the-cloud services. We focused on realistic test scenarios and challenged the products against real-world threats. Products had to demonstrate their capabilities using all components and protection layers.

Don't take these tests seriously my friend, there is not and never will be 100% antivirus, remember Panda? in all tests it was 100%, it was tested in the hub and it was butchered, 100% infected
These lab tests are dangerous, as it gives people an false sense of security thinking antiviruses actually provide 100% protection, as you said they are also inconsistent with non-believable results.

No matter which test is used, whether it be the lab tests or the tests at MalwareTips, you would still be 99.9% protected with a decent antivirus protection. Unless of course. you are hitchhiking your system with 1000 different malware that these testers are using.

Also a paranoid user is never protected, and jumps from one ship to another. There's no best antivirus, there's no "100%" protection antivirus, but only everyone's personal favorite. Stick with a good antivirus if you like it, rather than the "best" one.

As for the lab tests, use it as an education tool, and do yourself a favor and not pick the products that lies at the bottom of the list. Anywhere from the middle to the top should do you good.

Not saying F-Secure is 100% of course but it does do very well here in the hub as well. It’s got a good set of engines well-tuned to common threats…. Mainly just weak to BAT/JS scriptors.

You are probably absolutely right in what you say, but regardless, of all the tests taken from 2013, f-secure is the only one among its competitors to score 100% with AV-Test regarding protection. They are all tested equally, we can assume, and then the winner at AV-Test is f-secure in terms of protection. These are good cards to take with you when selling an anti-virus program ;)

Personally, I view the various software that scored well in comparative tests like this as 'not bad' rather than 'best.'
The highlight of these tests is the defender's impressive progress record.
These are good cards to take with you when selling an anti-virus program
If I were to sell software, I would black out the names of defenders on the list.;)🖊️

Looks like they not tested ESET this year: Pity about that :cry:
ESET takes part in the business test. The samples used by AVT are the same and ESET and most other products result should also be identical more or less, so ESET takes part in one test only to save some money.
You can see ESET and other business products results here:
