This is driving me nuts.. Whenever I try to open MS excel 2013, I get a dialog box saying "There was a problem sending the command to the program" and excel opens but no spreadsheet is displayed. I have to click the file again, and only then the spreadsheet opens. Googled and followed many solutions posted online such as - uncheck 'Ignore other applications that use DDE', right click excel.exe and change the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 8', and nothing worked. Does anyone know how to resolve this ?
