Microsoft started rolling out Windows 11 24H2 in October, bringing a slew of changes, including faster downloads for OS updates. However, this version is plagued with bugs, including several that are tied to specific apps.

Because of the issues surrounding the release of Windows 11 24H2, Microsoft has paused the rollout of the update to computers running any of these affected apps. While you can manually download and install the update, doing so with any affected apps installed could result in Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) errors or lowered performance.

These Apps Will Break Windows Update 24H2

Microsoft says that the apps affecting the new update include some common apps you may have installed on your PC. One of the most widespread apps is Easy Anti-Cheat.

This Unexpected App Could Keep You From Installing the Update

One app you might not expect to encounter issues with is Asphalt 8: Airborne. This is a racing game that Microsoft used to bundle with installs of Windows 10 and Windows 11, which means you might not even realize it's keeping you from getting the update.

Thanks for sharing this. It's important to be aware of these potential issues before updating to Windows 11 24H2. Users should check their installed apps, especially Easy Anti-Cheat and Asphalt 8: Airborne, to avoid possible BSOD errors or performance issues.
