Ok ....
Just downloaded the Trial of Trend Micro to see what the buzz is, after uninstalling my three year Eset Security I installed the six month trial of Trend Micro from SOS , performed my base scan , software update said I had downloaded and installed an outdated version and gave me a key to download the newest version of Trend Micro, it uninstalled the version I got from SOS and installed the new version. Only problem is my six month trial has been knocked down to thirty days now .... what kind of bait and switch sh!t is that?

I would think with security software one would want the most up to date version available, why is Trend Micro offering outdated software downloads?

I think you did something wrong, then again im a real subscriber, not a trial user.

And these kind of remarks because of an user error ( you did something wrong ) : "what kind of bait and switch sh!t is that?" is not done ! Maybe the promotion ended ? But since you immediately scold i am not gonna help you. And YES most software companies make you download the most recent one after installation.

I installed in on a VM using a new email address yet it says activation unsuccessful. Any help will be appreciated.

Listen, I did nothing but install the software, I'm not a newb that just fell off the back of a turnip truck that doesn't know how to use software. I installed it, it told me my version was outdated and offered to install the newest version , when it did it reduced my 6 month license to a 30 day license.
No big deal, I never planned on purchasing anyway, I just simply stated a fact, when it comes to security software, if your gonna offer a download whether it be 30, 60, 90, six months or a year , put the latest version out there.

Stay with Eset then, so why bother in the first place ? :unsure:

When inspecting this SOS site, for me its a bit shady, if the deal was really approved by Trend Micro, why is updating to the latest version not allowed.
Trend Micro always wants the customer to use the latest version. Seems like an old version with some kind of pirated/old key. I would not install this.

Nevermind, I installed a 30 day trial from a fresh installer obtained from official site but the results against zero day malware were shocking to say the least.
