Ok, I've just installed it. It works in a similar way as Windows Defender's or avast!'s Anti-Ransomware. By protecting folders of choice. However, this "free" version only allows you to protect 2 folders and then it starts nagging to share it with your friends to unlock more. So, that's about it. It really doesn't have any menus other than one main panel...

Syafiq- I've actually been meaning to check this one out for a while. Just have to see how the Protected Folders are protected (looks like a Rules based-Honeypot thingy). If I can't bypass it my cat will never forgive me.

Should be done by this weekend...

...if You (and the cat O) have the time could you please test Secure Folders? I know it is abandonware but some people is still using this app and it looks pretty good.

Tnx :)

Bribon and AVG- I'll be releasing a video this weekend in which I will be using 10 ransomware files. As I already had the setup in place, I installed SecureFolders:

1). I made 5 identical folders with various stuff inside
2). 4 of the folders were protected by a different SF mechanism (Hidden, Lock, Read Only, No Execution). The 5th was unprotected to act as a control.
3). I ran the malware.
4). The Control fell (needless to say) on the first sample. All of the others fell by the 4th.

As it looks like it is not being developed anymore it really isn't worthy of a video. But I can assure you that the protected folders are anything but secure.

I look forward to the video...
Is it possible to get these samples (in a private message)?
Do you have another similar program like SF to recommend it to do better than it?
