"It’s important to remember that while you will be able to “install” Ubuntu, Fedora and OpenSUSE from the Windows Store you won’t be installing a Linux distro with GUI desktop environment, display server, and suite of X11 apps. You get the a full Ubuntu/Fedora/OpenSUSE user space and development environment on Windows, without the overhead of virtualization or emulation."

You can install it from windows features ... It has no linux kernel; only linux system calls are reimplemented. so you can use most of linux programs as long as it doesn't deal directly with hardware. You can access linux files from windows and vice versa. you can also use GUI by installing ubuntu desktop or any similar package(I tried lxde). It works with good performance.
