Poll - [Updated 23/3/18] Browser extension comparison: Malwares and Phishings

Browser: Google Chrome 65 x64
Malware and phishing links: 10 malc0de, 10 vxvault, 10 openphish, 10 verified phishtank, 10 unverified phishtank
Total: 50 links
Extensions: recently downloaded from Chrome Web Store
- Google Safe Browsing (built-in chrome's protection)
- AdGuard AdBlocker: default settings, uses Google Safe Browsing (delayed) and their own database
- Avira browser safety: default settings
- Norton Safe Web: default settings
- Bitdefender Trafficlight: default settings, it rarely blocks any malware links, just old ones
- Avast Online Security: default settings, only has phishing protection, expected to score 0 against malwares
- Netcraft Extension: default settings, only has phishing protection, expected to score 0 against malwares
- uBlock Origin with some additional filters

NOTE: the result can vary from day-to-day. Tomorrow with different links, the result can be very different. All are live links but they can be dead a few minutes after the test. No duplication

Till now, two good option i have in my mind for web protection. The one is K9 which covers everything and the other is a combination of Malwarebytes+Netcraft (malwares+phising). You can't go wrong with each of them.
the two options is good. K9 is very good for chrome i think and for mozilla. For Opera not work well. More light from Forticlient. And Malwarebytes netcraft is the best extensions.

I am using K9,behaves very good in both Chrome and Edge, scores excellent in protection as we saw on @Evjl's Rain tests and i think the biggest advantage is that is not an extension,it's light, so you don't have to slow down your browser with a bunch of extensions doing nearly the same job.

Another good test. A question. with which internet browser do you test? I asked why I tried Foticlient and K9 with Opera and do not block almost anything. Only with chrome I saw good results. Now I'm with Kaspersky free. Kaspersky works perfect and with Opera
I use google chrome for my tests because it's the most popular browser right now and it supports all of my testing extensions. Firefox doesn't have WDBP and its google safe browsing is delayed and it's very annoying to test firefox with many links
my main browser I use everyday is Chromium portable (woolyss)
it doesn't have google's newly implemented craps like software reporter tool and antivirus detection
@Evjl's Rain would it benefit anything to run forticlient web filter with ' new domains' blocked, since isnt most phishing sites new domains anyway?
Never tried it
In theory it would be a good option but I think it will cause more problem than what it can do so I never use/hate default-deny solution for web browsing, even with noscript or scriptsafe
blocksi block unrated can do the same and it blocked newspaper website I read everyday and it's the most popular in my country => uninstalled

Added a quick DNS test (late, 1 link was dead)
Quad9 0
Adguard DNS 10
Neustar 18
Greenteam 0
Yandex 6
Comodo DNS 0
Strongarm 0
SafeDNS 4
adguard improving? Their dns isnt bad at all , probably faster alternative for neustar even i cant say difference in dns speeds when using 4g

With Norton ConnectSafe being discontinued, what will happen to K9 ?
I've been getting this since yesterday...

Yep me too,but it's working.I am waiting to see if it is just a simple maintenance or it will be shut down.
Considering, that K9 was never made for profit, is it more like the latter. :(
14 years protecting kids to be shutdown by greed, just to save a few bucks.

To sum it up: it has not been updated for years, even though it is working, the GUI is obsolete, it is not promoted at all, the last FB post is from 2014.

Yes, they didn't seem to care about the 90's appearence :) but in terms of protection they keeping update every day, that's why score so high.

Really good discussion. Question about FortiGate. I have set "Potentially Liable" to block and "Adult Mature Content" to block or warn for each category...depending on what type of site. Also, I have set "Unrated" to Block. Is this all I should do? The functionality seems fine so far.

I don't know if FortiGate uses the cloud to block malicious or just the static web filter. From the sound of things, I should move away from uBlock, although I supplement it for now with Netcraft. These poor extension creators. Their work is seems many times to be left behind in such a short amount of time for them to respond.

Guys I am using Comodo Dragon and lately almost every day it seems that it disconnected from the internet for almost an hour or half. Then it's coming back.In the past I had the same problem with Chrome. At the same time Edge is working fine.I checked with Zemana, Adware,Rogue Killer and NPE and nothing.I removed 3 hijacks with Comodo hijack cleaner but still nothing. Anyone?(sorry for the off-topic)

More like network problem, configure your router/modem from scratch and check drivers are up to date and maybe run windows built in troubleshoot
