Hi guys,

I have a bit of a strange problem, when I search in the url bar it searches from Thailand when I am from the UK, I haven't ever been to Thailand but I have recently been searching for holidays over there.

The weird thing is it is happening to every computer in the house which is 2 laptops, 3 desktops, an Android pad and my iphone 5. None of which are connected in any way (my desktop and laptop are connected via steam when they are both on at the same time but don't know how that would change things, and also i log in to the same google account on them but none of the other computers in the house) other than connecting to the same router for the internet.

I have tried changing to firefox instead of chrome, same thing happens on there. I have gone into settings and deleted all the default search engines and added a new google search, same still. If i change the search to bing though its fine.

I have ran chrome cleanup tool, it found no programs to delete, I have ran both Microsoft security essentials and malwarebytes neither found any problems (I have done this only on my computer not all computers)

The only logical thing I can think of is there has been a virus got on to the router, although I do know this is really rare, I am currently with talktalk using default settings on the router, and we all know how bad their security is. I am going to find an old router out to try, but I am thinking if I have an undetected virus it will just do the same to the other router.

Apart from it being the router I really cant work out how it could affect all computers and phone/pad in the house, I mean is there really a virus safisticated enough to affect 3 (4 if you count windows 7 and 10 separately) different operating systems that can travel via a router to then just change the search bar to a different location?

The only way I have change it is use the no country redirect app for chrome but this only masking the problem and not sorting it out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is really doing my head in trying to work out whats going on.

Cheers

Hi @Syafiq Thanks for your reply.

When I do a search from the url bar or a new tab and go to the bottom of the page it says my location is Phuket, Thailand, "From your internet address" I then click "use precise location" and the click "Allow" and nothing changes.

If I go to google.co.uk my location is Phuket, Thailand, "From your internet address" I then click "use precise location" and the click "Allow" and it has changed my location back to where I am. But stays as Thailand through url bar still. I'm even getting Thai ads and when searching the google help forum, its all in Thai.

I have gone to google maps through the Thai Google and clicked "my Location" in the bottom corner and it goes to my house so its only through the url bar and new tab that it is picking up my location as in Thailand.

If this is malware that has affected my google chrome I don't understand how its affecting every computer in the house as we all sign in to different google accounts.

I have tried resetting my google chrome several times and ran google cleanup tools. all no good.

Has anybody else ever had a problem like this??

Would re-formatting every computer in the house get rid of it? Or is it a virus on our google accounts??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

@TwinHeadedEagle Thank you so much, I had rebooted many times hadn't even thought of resetting with a pin. Time to get back on the phone to talktalk as they spent over an our almost arguing with us that it couldn't be anything to do with the router and telling us to get a specialist in to sort it.

Thank you again
