For quite awhile I have been using 2FA where feasible with a USB Dongle or an Authenticator app Authy without issue. However, Microsoft now requires 7 digit codes via SMS for 2FA but my app, and others I tried offer 6 which do not work. Anyone experience the same?

Use Microsoft Authenticator.

Choose the Password-less route for logging into Microsoft Apps and Websites.

On Windows 10, you can use Windows Hello to login.

On Android and iOS, you can use Approval Requests & Code Match via the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Microsoft never send my a SMS and it never need more then 6 (standard) digits.
I use also andOTP from F-Droid and it works perfectly

Found this to make it easier to understand.

Thanks for the info. I guess their security is geared towards working with their own app which I downloaded onto my Android. Seems ok now.
