Use Puppy Linux. Or DSL ie Damn Small Linux. That should do it. You can do one thing. Try to get him a ram upgrade at least till one GB. I had the same config a few years back. Only difference I had a 3.2GHz powerful p4 processor.

If not mistaken, DSL is no longer maintained. If that is the case, then suggestion would be valid for Puppy Linux only.

Also we have to consider: is his friend comfortable with Linux...

No he is not but ill explaion ti him some things.

Apart from that i beleive CFW is light and D+ will a better job than Kingsoft will.

Wont you agree?

You can put both products in his system. Both are light so his system can handle it.

Can they work both with 256 MB of slow SDRAM?

Also Does kingsoft has good detections rates?

You can't explain D+ to a beginner since he has no knowledge about COM, registry, DLL, etc... i would not recommend it, with time he will allow a malware from a keygen he may need or deny a legit application because he will not know what is it.

At least PCAV Pro has a BB and easy to set and use.

How do you know Kingsoft is lighter than Panda, we may say it's light, but you need to try and decide for yourself too.

Also Panda Cloud is more mature on the market, Kingsoft recently added their software to English market (before that it was chinese or something).

You can visit their forum here (also contains direct download link, no cnet)

If you're curious about anything, I'm sure they're willing to assist.

Thanks :D
