Advice Request VPN Review Sites Owned by VPNS?

I came across another interesting read concerning VPNS.
I wasn't aware that some VPNs have purchased review sites as well to aid in their marketing:

We discovered that many popular VPN review websites are actually owned by VPN services. This creates a conflict of interest.

I have no affiliation with this website and/or its writers nor can I verify whether the article is true but wanting to be an informed consumer like I assume all of you want to be, I thought I would share.

They are affiliate sites, so not technically owned by the VPN companies, still shady nonetheless, same goes with antivirus reviews, a majority is biased/affiliates.

For a IT-Guy listening to those influencers just makes me sick even commercials state that stuff mentioned in the video. (NordVPN on Welt.de as an example)
