Hello everyone!
Today we are going to take a look at this new software: Watchdog Anti-Malware.
WatchdogDEV is a young American company that develops its anti-Malware of the
the same name.
It offers a light and fast Cloud protection.
The developer ( @Watchdog ) asked me to detail it, and I did!
URL: 1/10.
To begin with, at the 2nd URL, Watchdog detects the file, but crashes because the
Trojan horse DanaBot was launched anyway, killing the protection.
I had to restart Watchdog by hand to continue.
I continue, and no detection.
While I prepare the next step, Watchdog removes 4 files, very late,
but I couldn't film it.
Fake crack : 1/1
Detected
Malware Pack: 0/1071..
Either the scan crashed, or it knows nothing...
Execution Test:
Watchdog blocks a lot of files, but a lot of them get through too!
Worm, PolyRansom, Trojan.Patcher.B, the machine is quickly infected!
Scan with Watchdog :
It detects 9 infections (including Hijacks) but freezes during the cleaning, but
but executes the actions anyway.
The PC restarts, and it quarantines files and URLs... We are at about
30 minutes into the test, I think that these malwares have had plenty of time to destroy
the system!
Scan with disinfection tools:
NPE, HitmanPro, Emsisoft and McAfee unusable because infected...
KVRT detects a BIG number of infections... 1849 files!
The whole PC was infected.
Conclusion: Watchdog is young, that's why the test was a bit different, with
details in this thread.
The test method does not change, even though it escaped the Home Ransomware test,
but given the state of the virtual machine, it was impossible.
The software is not very stable. I have already experienced freezes during
the test, cleaning up threats or whatever.
I noticed a big problem with the detection. Why does Watchdog detect threats
30 minutes later?! It is supposed to block it directly before the infection!!!
It has no self-defense. DanaBot was able to kill Watchdog without any problems even though
even though it was detected by the antimalware...
I think Watchdog is in the BETA stage rather than a finished product.
It's a pity, but considering the numerous bugs, problems, freezes etc. that I have encountered,
I find it hard to recommend Watchdog.
In addition to the detection which is bad for the moment, the problems of stabilities
also make the note lower...
