Diskeeper is the only one I've tried!
It is a good product,as it allows space/name defrags etc, but in all fairness you can achieve the same results with freeware!:)

No real dangers with either of them!
Just dont go ballistic with defraging your drive!
It increase the wear and tear on it for minimal gains!>>unless you are a gamer!;)

Diskeeper will actually hurt your performance because it will be analyzing and placing your files on-the-fly to achieve nearly zero fragmentation, so your files will always be not so fast and not so slow because, yes they will be defragmented, but no they won't be optimally placed on the disk. Diskeeper has its own optimal placement methods, but they take weeks to actually work and are no better than what you can achieve with other defragmenters, plus Diskeeper's background service will be always at work, so also taking resources unnecessarily. I'm not sure how PerfectDisk works, but I'm not sure it would be worth your money either. O&O is very solid, works fast, and achieves great results. The free version can even be set to automatically defragment while the screensaver is on, which is how I like to do it (but you'll need to pay if you want it on Windows 8.x as the older free version doesn't support it). Take a look at this neat test with many popular defragmenters, including all of the above: http://www.hofmannc.de/en/windows-7-defragmenter-test/benchmarks.html

No need to use a paid defrag software, they will not give to any better results than what you can get from free defrag programs like Auslogics Disk Defrag, MyDefrag, Defraggler, IObit SmartDefrag, Glorysoft Disk SpeedUp, Puran Defrag, etc. The only difference is a bunch of unnecessary bells and whistles.

Enjoy!! :D

Last three days I was using Diskeeper 12. Now I am using PerfectDisk 13.

Both gave me faster bootups, but Diskeeper was faster.

Do not try to do boot-time defrag on PerfectDisk, it would destroy Windows 8' fast startup (but there's a workaround, just search for PDboot.exe cleanup tool on their support site.)

Diskeeper provides faster and on-the-fly defragmentation.

I agree with you.

On-the-fly defragmentation means a service will be working in the background all the time, and this can have its own negative performance impact.

Plus, not all defragmenters are the same. Not at all. You don't want something buggy or ineffective shuffling your data around. I won't comment on all defragmenters that were mentioned because I haven't tried them all, but I'll just take a second here to reiterate O&O is solid and effective.

If you don't want to accept my direct easy to understand answer then that is your right but read it again since it appears to go right over your head. All defrag products are the same except for extra features, these features do not make your system run any better.

It is very hard to give you an answer when you want to compare a rock to a hard place and ignore all other options.
