I found for finding somewhat decent Stack Overflow posts or diagnosing technical problems, Bing gives me the best results. I used DuckDuckGo for a while and it was okay. I've been finding Google used to be the best, but the returned results are getting worse - has anyone else had this problem?

I'm not paying $$$ for a search engine. They can have the data.
People already pay for silly things like newsletters, podcasts, and onlyfans.

Paying for a search engine, at least is more useful like paying for a DNS service or Antivirus.

So far, I like Kagi. Brings better results than the other search engines listed in the thread. Feels like a mix of Duckduckgo Bangs with Google Search results and Brave layout.

I'm with you in this point, but sadly, normal people used to use what they start to use first, for example my family members use Google Chrome with Google search, they refuse to use anything else because they used to this setup, you have to be a geek to start to think out of the box and choose what fit you best not just follow the crowd blindly.

Google. Nothing comes close, no matter how deluded the search for true privacy is.
Bing if it's for, y'know.
Yandex if it's for, also y'know.
And shout out to Brave for trying.

I use SearXNG in a Docker container, configured to aggregate results from all major search engines. It's also routed through a VPN, which means there's virtually no way to trace my search queries or link them back to me. No one can tell that my browser sent a request—via Docker, through a VPN—to Google, Bing, Yahoo, or any other provider. 😄
Simple and effective.

In my opinion I use Brave Search 95% of the time but for local searches which is probably the last 5% of the time for example shopping or opening hours of businesses I use Google. I love Brave's AI search results, quite accurate and very useful information and private.

DuckDuckGo is a pretty good option too especially with their AI answers/results.

Tried to search for a specific website using all; the order in search results was as the following:

DDG: Not in the first 54
Brave: Not in the first 58
Yahoo: Not in the first 56
Yandex: 8th
Ecosia: 4th

Good to know that Startpage and Ecosia better than DDG, I will give them a try.

After doing away with the suggested autocorrection for "windowslite," Brave Search turned up this site as the first result.

DDG has the best interface and customizability.
Yes, I remember it was the first one to implement website's icons, which made it harder for me to get used to anything else when I try to change to other search engine.
Local means Jordanian websites?
Yes, sadly not all search engine are good when searching for places or locations on the Middle East in general (google is superior, but I try to use less google services as possible), Brave Search was better than DDG for some sites, but I just used in when I used Brave Browser (not anymore because of its cryptocurrency features).
