However more and more sites are now detecting ADGuard and issuing am error after loading the page
Stopped using AG extension as it consumes very large percentage of RAM and to lesser extent CPU.
Even AG dns gave me periods of almost freezed page loading.
I replaced NextDNS with ControlD (hagezi TIF).
Totally unrelated: is your avatar a flux capacitor or an antibody?
It's Yandex logo art; however, it fits Ab also.

Is Hagexi Pro++ does right by you? For me it was way too aggressive when I tried it. But that was years ago.
Yeah. After 4 months of using HaGeZi Pro++, I found only two FPs and that was on piracy sites. It was fixed quickly in the next version.

Since that post I changed my configuration and now I use:

Laptop:
  • Cloudflare Zero Trust with HaGeZi Pro++
  • Firefox + ETP: Strict + uBlock Origin

Phone:
  • Rethink DNS (app) + Cloudflare Zero Trust with HaGeZi Pro++
  • Brave

AdGuard is temporary gone from a phone as I'm testing Rethink DNS app (GitHub version) to see which one is better.

That the Adguard app or Adguard DNS that's gone from the phone?

Both. I used AdGuard app and inside AdGuard DNS. I replaced it with Rethink DNS app and Cloudflare Zero Trust. So far it's great and I think it even uses less battery than AdGuard app when in DNS-only mode.
Might take a look.

I feel like cloudflare is being a bit more picky lately too with DNS adblocking?

Every now and again it'll do the 'checking your connection' on mobile for certain sites, but desktop, never seems to get the check.

Guess it could be down to user agents on the browser too.

Seen a few posts on Reddit of people saying the same thing as well (Whilst using NextDNS)

There are few reasons why you constantly get captchas to solve.

1. Your IP is blacklisted.
Use this tool to check if your IP is blacklisted. IP addresses get blacklisted due to abuse and websites (using Cloudflare) use these databases and require additional checks for users coming from IP addresses located in the lists.

2. Ad blocking
Ad blockers are known to mess with abuse detection scripts due to privacy reasons and when these scripts are blocked, they send website/Cloudflare signal that something isn't right so they ask you to solve captchas.

3. Website set maximum level of security in Cloudflare dashboard
Website owner has ability to set maximum level of security for their website, resulting in Cloudflare asking every and each user to solve captcha before entering the website so bots can't bypass it.

It's actually easy to find out what is happening on your network. Do a scan, from the tool I linked and if your IP addresses is listed in many blacklists (more than 2-3), there's your answer. Restart router and hope you'll get clean IP addresses. If that doesn't help, you can call your ISP and report the issue. Temporary bypass can be using Cloudflare WARP VPN as Cloudflare IP addresses are clean.

If issue still persists with Cloudflare WARP, then it must be the ad blocking thing. Visit the same set of websites on another device and see if you get captchas there. If not, well... there's your answer.

In the end, if nothing helped, then it's the website set up this way and you can't do anything about it. Cloudflare has nothing to do with it, rather than the website owner. Sorry. 💁🏻‍♂️

Well I'm not getting them constantly. Like I say. It's now and again, and it only happens on devices that run NextDNS. (So two mobiles and a tablet) It doesn't happen on desktop devices where the Adguard extension is used.

So I'm putting it down to adblocking at DNS level. (Or NextDNS in this case)

It could be blocking some Cloudflare domains triggering their bot detection system. Which blocklists are you using?

The default NextDNS one.

NextDNS Ads & Trackers Blocklist.

It's not so much the bot check per say, I don't have to physically tick the box to say I'm not a robot or anything, it just says it's checking if the site connection is secure (I think that's the message)

There for like a second or so then everything loads fine.

I've checked the logs in NextDNS and nothing stands out as 'ah that's the reason', So it could just be that some sites have cranked up security a little I guess.

A combo of Ublock Origin and built in ad-blocking through Vivaldi
You shouldn't use two ad blockers at the same time. My recommendation is that you disable Vivaldi's ad blocker and rely on uBlock Origin as it's more capable. Unless, we're talking about uBO Lite; then Vivaldi's ad blocker might be more capable.

To better understand our threat blocking percentage implemented by browser + DNS + adblock, it is best to have the AI analyze the situation in detail with a single simple task, for example, what percentage of trackers are blocked.

My situation involves two types of blocking.
One is implemented within TLDs, which is handled by DNS + uBo filter lists + some personal rules.
This situation may be similar to that of many forum users.

The other situation, which is easier for the AI to analyze, applies outside of TLDs.
In this case, dynamic filtering is predominant.
So DNS + dynamic filtering + many more personal rules + uBo filter lists (for those domains still within the TLDs).

Then there are mitigation factors common to both situations, which are due to the browser sandbox configuration, flags, etc.

The result analyzed by AI was that, outside TLDs, my personal tracker blocking capacity reaches 99% and tends towards 100% (this depends on the websites visited).

The situation within TLDs is more difficult to quantify, as it achieves a lower tracker blocking percentage.

How much lower?
It is likely to be around 80-85%.

Therefore, an Easy Mode:

Blocking mode: easy mode

configuration with uBo, even with a significant number of subscribed filter lists, will never achieve blocking performance above a certain percentage value.
