Bart Arens opens anniversary edition Top 2000 with impressive mash-up (2023) | NPO Radio 2

On several levels, the world unfortunately looked a little less beautiful in 2023. For the 25th edition of the Top 2000, Bart Arens wanted to turn the powerless feeling into a musical cry for some more love towards each other.

Using the words of John Lennon, the beautiful speech in Paulo Nutini's Iron Sky and the still topical What's Going On by Marvin Gaye, the mash-up begins with a call for more peace and love in the world.

Bart is supported for the mash-up by drummers Cesar Zuiderwijk (Golden Earring), Niles Vandenberg (Kensington), Jamie Westland (DI-RECT) and Norman Bonink (BLØF), among others, a 30-member children's choir and an orchestra with 30 instrumentalists.
