Roadmap 2023: What’s next for Proton Mail and Proton Calendar | Proton

New key features to expect on Proton Mail
  • Schedule send
  • New tracking protections
  • Set reminders or snooze emails
  • Categorized emails
  • Message content search in our mobile apps
  • Deeper integration with other Proton services
  • Improved privacy and ease of use
We believe using your Proton Mail inbox should be an enjoyable experience, which is why we’ll also introduce many improvements in 2023, such as:
  • The message view in your inbox will be streamlined to provide a cleaner email-reading experience. You’ll be able to respond to messages without opening the email composer.
  • We’ll release a completely rewritten Proton Mail Android app that runs faster and adds a conversation view.
  • All official Proton emails will be marked with an authenticity badge, replacing our current starring system.

In the next few weeks, we’ll also launch our Proton Calendar for iPhone, allowing you to organize your schedule on the go while keeping it private. Once we cross this major milestone, we plan to work on the following improvements.

  • Better sharing
  • Improved convenience

When they launched you received a promotional free lifetime account for a limited period when you signed up. I'm thankful I have friends who pay attention to things like this.

Proton has released a desktop version of its Proton Mail app that will give users full access to both Proton Mail and Proton Calendar and (eventually) the ability to view your emails offline. The desktop app is available in beta is optimized for both Windows and macOS, and encrypts sent emails end-to-end just like with the browser version, according to the Swiss company, while offline access to emails will be available “soon.”

Technically, it’s been possible to access your Proton emails offline through a desktop email app, but you had to use the Proton Mail Bridge to configure your accounts to work with other IMAP / SMTP email clients like Microsoft Outlook, Apple Mail, and others. Proton’s desktop app, on the other hand, will let you access emails offline without having to set up that bridge, which should be more convenient. (The program will cache a large number of emails for offline use, Proton says.)

After years of research by our cryptography team, you can now set up secure and automatic email forwarding in Proton Mail. No other large-scale email service offers a seamless email forwarding feature that preserves end-to-end encryption. This is one of our most highly requested features from our professional and business accounts, so we’re launching email forwarding today for anyone with a paid Proton Mail subscription.

With email forwarding, you can automatically send incoming mail to any other email address. When forwarding to Proton Mail email addresses, messages are end-to-end encrypted, meaning no one (including Proton) can see the contents of your messages. But you can also set up forwarding to external addresses, including CRM and customer support software.
