Virtual Box has a built-in video recorder

Never knew that, thank you! :)

EDIT: Tried it, and it's not bad at all. Note that you must set the screen resolution of the VM to be the same as what you chose for the resolution of the video capture, otherwise not all the screen will be visible in the recording. Keep in mind it also doesn't record audio.

EDIT 2: I can't set the mouse pointer to be visible in the recording, how to do that?

Yes VirtualBox has video recorder but has terrible quality. For recording Camtasia Studio is the best.

Either, Windows 7 will require the latest SP1 + Updates. Disable Windows Defender.
Windows 8.1 will require Update 1, and Windows Defender will need to switched off, when testing other security software. This is normally done automatically. You'll need to consider the use of SmartScreen too, if you're going to ignore, then tell the viewers.

I use VMWare Workstation here.

When its lagging you might defragmet your harddrive, turn off your AV or defragment the VIRTUAL Harddrive of the VM.

Windows 7 is running good on my end.
