I wasn't privvy to what a PC was when 1.0 was around, so this is unchartered territory for me. I better brace myself...
I still remember going to buy my first PC, 486 by Acer. The guy said all I would need for a long time is 4MB RAM, it'll be enough for plenty of years. If I could turn back time, I'd give the mutt a piledriver on top of a pile of faulty peripheral devices...
