During March and April 2020 we continuously evaluated 20 home user security products using their default settings. We always used the most current publicly-available version of all products for the testing. They were allowed to update themselves at any time and query their in-the-cloud services. We focused on realistic test scenarios and challenged the products against real-world threats. Products had to demonstrate their capabilities using all components and protection layers.

I don't know why Malwarebytes insists on thinking that it is an antivirus, in all tests it is a punching bag, they need to go back and put themselves in their place, which is just an add-on for antivirus, that way they will continue to be embarrassed .

They don't give a ##### what you think(profit related roadmap).

There is contradiction on the AV vendors that use Bitdefender Engine (Bullguard, G Data and Vipre).
Probably mostly signature detection, almost can be an indication of poor samples /cheating in zero-day tests.
But it's very difficult to tell in this test about cheating most likely just poor zero-day samples.

I'd like to see some improved results from ESET. They still need to catch up to the top performers.

They also come with different behavior blockers, which could make a difference too.

The results are really interesting across the board -- to see ESET get dinged for performance more than Kaspersky is kind of surprising.

F-Secure seems to be achieving more and more consistent top scores recently, which is pretty awesome. It's great to see a privacy-valuing lightweight AV performing well and to do so consistently.

Something's wrong: BullGuard usually tests worse than VIPRE and that has been the case with anyone who has tested it. To see BullGuard as the top of the BD engine products flies in the face of the YouTube videos circulated recently. Malware lists/updates cannot account for this. Remember that VIPRE actually has Bitdefenders ATC while BullGuard does not.

The difference between them is probably down to the webfilters IMHO.

in daily use eset it pretty good. been an eset user for a long time and nothing got past by it. on demand scanner is hitman pro. allways the pc comes clean. been testing it probably once a week with alot of malware samples (fresh samples), and eset takes care of all of them. so you have nothing to worry about. use your eset the way you want it. ypur safe. and i guess the reason you don`t see eset high on the tops of every av test, is beacause they do not pay the testers.. 🙈

You really think that Kaspersky need to pay them to prove to users that they have a good protection? When in 2013 Eugen criticized AV-TEST for changing their certification process...they payed Eugen so much, it's driving a Ferrari right now with that money...

nah, probably not kaspersky, but ahnlab, bullguard, fsecure probably do. last i remember those av were using bitdefender`s engine and you can see bitdefender is lower in the charts than those security firms. just saying, it`s a personal opinion you don`t have to take it for granted.

AhnLab 90% is about Business Security , F-Secure have good principals will not pay to move up on ranks...about Bullguard I don't know, maybe....Bitdefender signature are moving down so maybe that's why F-secure move to Avira engine.
