Today is Patch Tuesday, and that means that it's time for all supported versions of Windows to get updated. In the world of Windows 10, that still means every version except for version 1511, although different versions are only supported on certain SKUs. Windows 10 is a Microsoft product, so don't be surprised that support lifecycles ended up being much more complicated than originally intended.

Ever since March, Patch Tuesday has been the only time that Windows 10 was getting updated. Microsoft paused optional updates because of the COVID-19 pandemic; however, things will be back to normal this month.

If you're on the latest version of Windows 10, version 2004, then you'll get KB4565503, bringing the build number to 19041.388. You can manually download it here, and these are the highlights:
  • Improves security in the Microsoft Store.
  • Updates to improve security when using input devices (such as a mouse, keyboard, or stylus).
  • Updates to improve security when Windows performs basic operations.
  • Updates for storing and managing files.
  • Updates an issue that might cause certain games and applications to have visual distortion when resizing in windowed mode or switching from full screen to window mode.
  • Updates to improve security when using Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge Legacy.
  • Updates an issue that might prevent some applications from printing documents that contain graphics or large files.
  • Updates an issue that might prevent you from connecting to OneDrive using the OneDrive app.

Here's the full list of fixes:
  • Addresses an issue in certain apps that use the ImeMode property to control Input Method Editor (IME) mode in Windows 10, version 2004 (the May 2020 Update). For example, this issue prevents input mode from automatically switching to Kanji or Hiragana. For more information, see KB4564002 and the blog post, Getting the May 2020 Update Ready for Release - UPDATED.
  • Addresses an issue that might prevent you from using PowerShell to change the system locale on Server Core platforms.
  • Addresses an issue that might cause certain games and applications to have visual distortion when resizing in windowed mode or switching from full screen to window mode.
  • Addresses an issue that might cause lsass.exe to fail with the error message, “A critical system process, C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe, failed with status code c0000008. The machine must now be restarted."
  • Addresses an issue that might prevent some applications from printing documents that contain graphics or large files after installing Windows Updates released June 9, 2020.
  • Addresses an issue that might prevent you from connecting to OneDrive using the OneDrive app. This issue occurs on some older devices or on devices that have older apps, which use legacy file system filter drivers. As a result, this might prevent these devices from downloading new files or opening previously synced or downloaded files.
  • Security updates to the Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, the Microsoft Store, Windows Graphics, Windows Input and Composition, Windows Media, Windows Shell, Windows Fundamentals, Windows Management, Windows Kernel, Windows Hybrid Cloud Networking, Windows Storage and Filesystems, Windows Update Stack, Windows MSXML, Windows File Server and Clustering, Windows Remote Desktop, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge Legacy, and the Microsoft JET Database Engine.
There's also one known issue that's caused by this cumulative update specifically, as opposed to the many known issues in Windows 10 version 2004 as a whole.

And Windows 10 1909 & 1903 and older versions as well :

🤦‍♂️

Earlier this week was Patch Tuesday, when Microsoft released updates for all supported versions of Windows. One of the fixes was for an issue that caused some PCs to blue screen when plugging in a Thunderbolt dock with Windows 10 version 2004. If you were using a Thunderbolt dock up until this point, you'll have found that there was a block in place preventing you from upgrading to the May 2020 Update.

That block is being released now. If you're still unable to upgrade your PC to the latest version of Windows 10, then you should be able to soon.

Today is Patch Tuesday, and you know what that means. Every supported version of Windows is getting an update today, and for Windows 10, that still includes every version except for version 1511. Of course, the only versions that are supported for consumers are versions 1809 to present.

If you're on Windows 10 version 2004, or if you're an Insider on Windows 10 20H2, you're going to get KB4566782, bringing the build number to 19041.450 or 19042.450, respectively. You can manually download it here, and these are the highlights:
  • Updates to improve security when using input devices (such as a mouse, keyboard, or pen).
  • Updates to improve security when Windows performs basic operations.
  • Updates for storing and managing files.
  • Updates to improve security when using Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge Legacy.
  • Updates to improve security when using Microsoft Office products.
  • Updates for verifying usernames and passwords.
Here's the list of fixes:
  • Addresses an issue in Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps that allows single sign-on authentication when an app does not have the Enterprise Authentication capability. With the release of CVE-2020-1509, UWP applications might begin prompting the user for credentials.
  • Security updates to the Microsoft Scripting Engine, Internet Explorer, Windows Graphics, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows Kernel, Windows Input and Composition, Windows Media, Windows Shell, the Windows Wallet Service, Microsoft Edge Legacy, Windows Cloud Infrastructure, Windows Authentication, the Windows AI Platform, Windows Fundamentals, Windows Storage and Filesystems, Windows Update Stack, Windows File Server and Clustering, Windows Hybrid Storage Services, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Microsoft JET Database Engine, and Windows SQL components.
There's also one known issue to be aware of:
Symptom Workaround When using some apps, such as Microsoft Excel, users of the Microsoft Input Method Editor (IME) for Chinese and Japanese might receive an error, or the app might stop responding or close when attempting to drag using the mouse. For more information and workaround steps, please see KB4564002.

And 1507 and above:

Ugh! This patch was supposed to fix the Optimize drives issue, but it doesn’t.

This Windows 10 Health Report provides an overview of the problems people encounter with the recently released Windows 10 2004 KB4566782 and Windows 10 1909 KB4565351 cumulative updates.

Microsoft releases new Windows updates on the second Tuesday of every month, known as Patch Tuesday, to fix operating system bugs and security vulnerabilities.

In addition to the Patch Tuesday updates, Microsoft also releases an optional Windows 10 cumulative update towards the end of each month to test new fixes before they are released.

Unfortunately, when new Windows 10 updates are released, it is common for users to run into issues. These problems could include issues installing the update, visual bugs, or problems printing due to a new security fix.

As a new column, BleepingComputer will publish Windows 10 'health' reports after every update to outline the latest updates' known problems.

With this week's Windows 10 Health Report, we will examine the known issues in the Windows 10 KB4566782 and KB4565351 cumulative updates.

Known issues in KB4566782 and KB4565351

The good news is that with the release of KB4566782 and KB4565351 updates, we have not seen any issues arise that severely affect the operation of Windows 10.

Due to the lack of any issues affecting the OS's functionality, these updates are relatively safe, and the biggest problem you are likely to run into is getting the update installed in the first place.

The known issues in both updates are listed below.

No, since the update to fix the issue is not on the stable branch yet (will be released next week, if no issues arise).

I let the guinea pigs force the update and run into issues in my place instead.
Thanks, then you will re-enable it via Task Scheduler?

@Local Host

I ask this because someone said that using a Code, he will enable the defrag, and also another Code to enable maintenance:

Is that necessary? What's your input about it?
I would just use Task Scheduler, as I used it the first time I disabled the defrag.
Thanks for your input.

Thanks for your input.
That is unnecessary, and is disabling more than is needed.

I'll re-enable the task if the bug was indeed fixed.
