It's supposed to be buggy. It's beta version of update, not stable update shipped to all users. This is why it's called preview and doesn't install automatically on its own. Once Microsoft removes bugs, they'll ship it to all users and it will install automatically on all PCs.

I did used to walk on the wild side of life (to a small degree) & run beta Windows & an early adopter of all things MS, but then I was young foolish & carefree. In my case, I installed update KB5120998 and everything went well. I also took the opportunity to install the KB5121794 Enablement Package, which transforms the current version into 26H2, raising the build number to 26300.9278.
