If you use a Local Account with Windows 8, I assume it does not require the use of a Password, although it's recommended to deter unwanted use from other or unknown people.
If you use a MS account with Windows 8, I don't think you can disable the password settings. As the User Password would be identical to your login password for the set MSN/Hotmail/Outlook email account.
You can use a PIN or Picture Password if you find it easier.

A Password can prevent unwanted or unauthorised use, it's like a Padlock on a door, you need the correct Key to enter. Don't use a weak password, as they can guessable or broken easily.
