New Update Windows Firewall Control - Updates Thread

6.28.0.0 Sir;)
Ah and i managed to translate FirewallHardening rules in a right *.whw format that will be imported in the Windows Firewall then on WFC, apart one rule which is BITSadmin (decorative rule), which i've set alone in the registry, but WFC can't see it, Windows yes (logging enabled).

My favorite firewall software. I have been using it since before it was acquired by Malwarebytes. In fact, I still have its license key. :D
 
⚠️Version 6.28.0.0 and 6.29.0.0 don't display notification connection anymore, you should stay with the 6.26.0.0 until the issue is gone.

  • Improved: When Learning Mode is enabled and the tray process is not elevated, a notification will be displayed even if the program is digitally signed, otherwise such programs are silently ignored.
  • Improved: Request elevation button was re-added in the Main Panel to give a hint that the program requires elevation before being able to change the settings which are disabled in the user interface.
  • Fixed: Auto closing countdown timer is not displayed anymore in the notification dialog when the tray process is not elevated.

  • Fixed: Mounting a volume in VeraCrypt while wfcUI.exe is elevated, does not refresh the Windows Firewall state and the existing firewall rules defined for files located on the encrypted drive do not work unless you manually switch the profile.
  • Fixed: A warning message is logged repeatedly in WFC event log if the service is stopped and the tray app can't connect to the service.
  • Fixed: Requesting elevation and cancelling the request triggers an unhandled exception in the tray app if the service is stopped.
  • Improved: Reduced workload on service side when notifications are disabled.

Thank you for keeping us up to date with the WFC changelogs, @silversurfer. I recently re-installed it along side of F-Secure, and noticed the new Elevation box. Now I now what and when that feature was introduced (y):)

The icon is a light color before enabling "Request elevation".

Windows Firewall Control 6.33.1.0 - Beta Channel Release
What's new in version 6.33.1.0 - BETA CHANNEL RELEASE (September 18, 2026)

- Reverted: Exporting/importing to/from *.wfw file (Windows Firewall format) was added back and it works similar to how it worked in WFC 6.9.7.0 or earlier.
- Reverted: Extended properties checkbox column was added back in Rules Panel. This column highlights easier Windows Store rules.
- Fixed: Notifications exceptions right click context menu entries are enabled even if the software runs in read-only mode.
- Fixed: OpenFileDialog generates multiple error messages in WFC log complaining about missing satellite resource assemblies, even if these files are not even required.
