Your image is not good which means the instalation media is not good. try to find a clean ISO of windows XP and burn it on a cd with imgburn make sure the burning speed is not more than 4. do not try to install via usb I always had problems
Am I suppose to disable ahci or is the installation media the only problem?

from your description the problem is bad disc or bad optical drive or the combination of both.
I don't think it'll help but you can try, you can always change back.

Do yoou have windows 7 or vista cd?

I have vista but I don't think I should install windows 7 since the pc is old and it only has 512mb ram.

Tried reinstalling Windows XP again and I have a picture of the bluescreen. I can't locate where to AHCI is in bios. My bios is Dell DM061 Version 2.1.2.

I found the fix. I had to turn off something in the hard drive section. It had something to do with raid.
Honestly I am more astonished at the dedication you had and the time you spent working on fixing this problem as opposed to you actually solving the problem... You made this thread over 9 months ago!

I'm glad you solved the problem. :)

Thanks! I was really surprised when the change I made in the bios worked. I was starting to give up and was assuming that it was a hardware problem because this computer is pretty old.
