Microsoft plans to introduce monthly time limits for Xbox Cloud Gaming in November. Each Game Pass tier will have a set number of streaming hours: five for Essential, 10 for Premium, and 15 for Ultimate.

Non-subscribers will be able to purchase streaming hours to play games they own in the cloud. Microsoft says the main reason for the change is the increasing cost of maintaining its streaming infrastructure.

Microsoft estimates the restrictions will affect only around 4% of Game Pass subscribers.

I don't play cloud games. My gaming time is limited, so when I do play, I focus on gameplay and immediate fun rather than investing hours into a deep narrative. My preference is strategy games—especially the Total War franchise—and anyone familiar with the genre knows how essential and enjoyable modding is.
