I would love to see how it turns out...I think its awesome that it uses the kaspersky engine but the 24 hour cycle needs to go.

I really would love to see some Video reviews on it. But if people are worried about its 24 hour update but really want to use it then just invest something to go along with it like Malwarebytes Pro, Mamutu, etc. or buy its paid suite. Then there ya go.

Seeing as a few of you are interested in a video review I've decided to go ahead and throw it against 20 malicious links and record it.

Here are some screenshots I took of the installation : http://imgur.com/a/Xipk6

Edit: Installer froze on installing the toolbar for about 10 mins, Finally managed to budge. I'm introduced with http://imgur.com/a/UQWm7 Just waiting for the update to finish now and I can start testing it against links.

I appreciate the images, it looks like the toolbar can be useful for extra security of coarse most users wouldn't want their homepage and default search set to search.zonealarm.com. The search page and toolbar are just a rebrand of Google with extra security features.

I wonder does this one update in 24 hrs. apply only to automatic updates or updates period for that day?

Other free AV's only allow one auto update daily but still allow you to manually update anytime.

Thanks.:D

So let me get this right as long as users click the update button they will be getting the same definations as the paid versions? Its only if you wait for it to automatically do it? If so that's not a big deal.

The update process took 25 mins to reach 40% and then stopped completed, Further 15 mins later and no progress, Restarted the VM, Tried to update again and it starts from 0% when it should continue off from 40% imo, This time it got to 43% and froze.

Not good, I was un-able to test it. Hopefully others have better luck.

I suggest zonealarm make it optinal for users to make it scan *advanced download protection* by defualt that would make a big diffrence considering the defualt scan is not as effective.

The latest version 10.2 is much better. I tried it 1 day ago, before going AV-less. I posted some screenshots.

Homepage >> LINK

There aren't many AV options, but there's a lot to select from Behavioural Scanning which is interesting, but I haven't been able to test it completely.

Even during a custom install, a component (BHO) for IE was installed (PS: I unchecked the toolbar option), which can be removed later. I wasn't shown a "please reboot", (or I dismissed it, I can't quite remember), but I recommend restarting after installation.

At one point I noticed one of the processes using 245MB, not sure why, but probably because I didn't restart the PC. I don't think it's a memory leak.

After uninstalling ZoneAlarm Free AV+FW, I suggest using the Clean Up tool by CheckPoint.

Not being funny but the UI choice of colors remind me somewhat of F-Secure.

ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus + Firewall is really a nice product.
Outside of the ads that are randomly served with popups in the center of your screen and the once a day update limit.

I'm using using the stand-alone firewall. It is very stable and never causes any problems.

Thanks.:D

i used Zonealarm free antivirus some days ago, so i can tell you that, once a day update is only applicable for Autoupdate, i updated manually more than once per day........
