i want to choose best file compression tool for my computer in terms of usability and security+privacy so can MalwareTips help me on that?
Open MalwareTips from your Home Screen or desktop. Follow discussions, find answers and pick up where you left off.
If you cannot find an install option, update your browser or use its bookmark option to keep MalwareTips close.
After installation, open the app and sign in. Enable push notifications in Preferences if you want alerts. On iPhone and iPad, push requires a Home Screen web app and iOS or iPadOS 16.4 or later.
Sign in to manage notificationsInstallation is optional. Your notification settings stay under your control.
i think peazip based on 7zip too is it correct?any one here not used peazip?7zip due to it's open-source nature and it's just my fav. Also not alot of exploits compared to WinZip or WinRAR. Just my 2 cents
and youre choice? Some archivers don't set the MOTW. So besides the (un)compress performance and open/closed source origin, this would also be a security aspect to consider
Pretty much word for word in what you said, 7-Zip.For at least 10 years now, I haven’t used anything else apart from 7zip. It’s quick, free and does the job. It’s also x64 ready. No ads as well.
Windows build-in and on Linux Mint default archive manager.and youre choice?
Maybe it's just me, but at times when I've tried the Windows version, it unzipped creating an empty folder. 7-Zip would then correctly unpack it.Windows build-in and on Linux Mint default archive manager.
And:
- Enable Control Flow Guard (CFG) to all target binaries for mitigating ROP attacks.
- Mark all x86 and x64 target binaries as compatible with Control-flow Enforcement Technology (CET) Shadow Stack.
- Strict handle checks at runtime to block the use of invalid handles.
- Disable dynamic code generation in Release builds prevents generating malicious code at runtime.
- Block loading unexpected libraries from remote sources at runtime.
- Enable Package Integrity Check.
- Enable EH Continuation Metadata.
- Enable Signed Returns.
- Support new context menu introduced by Windows 11.
