Our data shows that 8 out of 15 browsers declare collecting location data.
Four declare collecting approximate location only: Chrome, Safari, Opera, and Firefox.
Another four declare collecting both approximate and precise location: Edge, Aloha, Yandex, and Phoenix.
That split matters because it shows precise location collection is not the industry default even among browsers that do collect location.

I call this report garbage. First, because it blindly trusts what devs have written in safety disclosure. They can lie there and many app developers do because users prefer apps that don't collect data. Second, if browser connects to their back-end (whether it be for user count or analytics) your IP address is sent as well, which means they all get your approximate location.

Any app that collects your physical location without any use (such as Edge or Yandex browser) is classified as a spyware by me. Hence, it will never be installed on any of my devices.
