APIVoid Browser Protection

Thread details
Somehow APIVoid Browser Protection slipped under my radar, and I just learned about it by accident when I was using URLVoid and saw a mention of APIVoid.

So this was a pleasant surprise.

Though I wish that it was open source, I hope that there is a Microsoft Edge version soon, the ability to rate links & search results, and an option to submit suspicious websites would be nice.

Has anyone tested it against Osprey Browser Protection, Malwarebytes Browser Guard, Bitdefender TrafficLight / Bitdefender Web Sage, et cetera yet to see how it compares?

Thank you for releasing this web browser extension, and I hope that a free version that does not require an account will always be available.

I just replaced Osprey with this. Still checking though.
How are others' experience?

I just found out about APIVoid Browser Protection a few days ago, so I am curious about this as well for the others who have known about it longer.

Unfortunately, I have not seen any videos about it at all on YouTube, or Reddit, et cetera.

I am still using Osprey Browser Protection alongside it, the two together will replace Malwarebytes Browser Guard for me, except they both lack link / search reputation ratings, unfortunately.

APIVoid Browser Protection is supposedly able to compliment / be used alongside security extensions like Osprey Browser Protection and Malwarebytes Browser Guard, and ad blockers like uBlock Origin Lite et cetera.

So I would recommend using them both.

Hopefully someone who has done tests of APIVoid Browser Protection against threats and / or compared it to other security extensions will respond here.

Even the developers, who I hope have some tests and comparisons that they can share with us.

It would be strange if they did not bother to put it through some tests and compare it to some of their competition to see how it performs.

So hopefully they will chime in as well.

We've released a new version v4.0:

Changelog (major update):

v4.0 - 26 Oct 2026

Added "Block third-party scripts on IP-based URLs"
Added "Block third-party scripts on non-standard ports"
Added "Block third-party scripts on unsecure HTTP"
Added "Block third-party scripts on malicious domains"
Added "Block POST requests to non-standard ports"
Added "Block POST requests to blockchain RPC endpoints"
Added "Block suspicious redirect chains"
Updated list of internal rules

v3.9 - 23 Oct 2026

Added "Block copying of ClickFix-like commands"
Show a popup when a suspicious command is blocked
Added View command and Copy command (hidden by default) buttons
Added "Block third-party scripts on suspicious TLDs"
Exclusions work also for third-party scripts and iframes
Added an icon on Events for third-party scripts and iframes blocked
Included a "On page:" field on events of blocked scripts and iframes
You can click an event on Events page to view its details
Added "Copy to Clipboard" button on event details popup
Updated list of internal rules

We focused on protection against ClickFix, so it now blocks the copying of suspicious commands:

It blocks and overwrites with a warning text the copied command to clipboard.

If you want to enable the "Copy command" to copy the command anyway (e.g if it is a false positive or for analysis) you can disable this option on Settings:

Hide "Copy command" on clipboard guard popup

Then we added more protection options (enabled by default) to block third-party scripts and iframes:

The entries on the Events can be clicked and they show details of what was blocked and why.

These two new options are disabled by default for now:

Block POST requests to non-standard ports
Block POST requests to blockchain RPC endpoints

They should not cause issues on most websites, but they may interfere with sites that rely on dApps. As a precaution, we've left them disabled by default.

We do recommend enabling them if you don't use dApps, as they can help block new variants of ClickFix attacks.

If you plan to enable them, let me know if you find any issues.
