Anyone using Appguard these days? Does it work with any AV? Is cyberblock better or any advice on alternate ?

Yes, AppGuard is still in use and it's compatible with most antivirus programs. It's hard to compare it directly with CyberBlock as they have different features and functions. Your choice would depend on your specific needs. Other alternatives could be Bitdefender or Norton. Always consider your security requirements before choosing a solution.

I've had a AG-Solo 6 license since 2022, but I have not used it that much. (I used earlier version 4 several years ago) Within the past week I installed it on VMware win10 Guest that is running ESET Nod32 and Windows Firewall Control. I am taking my time reading both the Help file and the 6.7 Manual (165 page pdf). I am a long-time Voodooshield / Cyberlock user and in past preferred CL. My current experience with AG has been positive and the more I use (& understand) AG the more I like it. The question with AG seems to be when it blocks something it is blocked! If it is something you want to run and are sure it is safe, then you have to understand AG well enough to make the proper tweak. AG is actually very quiet. I got AG at a discounted price in 2022, and renewed it 2023, and expect I will renew it again in 2024. Also support has been responsive. I expect I will use it more now that I'm understanding it better. I suggest reading the 6.7 Manual in full. Current version of AG 6.7.129.2. If you can't locate the Manual, I could PM it to you. (Cyberlock is probably easier to use and less expensive). I like both.
PS Wilders seems to have more AG users.

sounds like a good plan. I am running CL on hardware win10 and running AG 6.7 on this VM. I'm mostly online in VM. fwiw, I solved an AG block issue last night by reviewing the Manual again. AG is not that complicated, it can just seem so at first -- just a different experience. Most of its blocks are not brought to your attention and are ignore-able. Another very positive day with AG.

I've been using AppGuard Solo for a number of years, older versions as well.
I went from Xp ( ran LooknStop, DefenseWall and ShadowDefender on Xp) to Windows 10,
with Sphinx Firewall Plus, AppGuard Solo and DeepFreeze. I have not run a dedicated Antivirus in a very very long time, only an occasional scan. I've remained malware free for around 17+ years.

Note on the practical side fwiw: overnight the VM running AG 6.7 let win10 update itself. AG was set on Protected mode. IIRC that's what AG was supposed to do. Non-windows software you need to set AG to Allow installs. I've had no popup blocks in the past 2 days, meaning to me this VM is tweaked (getting tweaked) better and better for AG. In fact, AG is mostly default with minimal (but correct I think) tweaks by me.

over the years I have tried all the security apps LoneWolf mentioned except for Sphinx Firewall Plus, but I did look at Sphinx' website yesterday.
