Me to, I honestly believe Kaspersky, Emsisoft etc., are byfar the best in the industry. Congrats to all those who came out tops!
For once, I am going to agree with AV-Comparatives.
Everyone always says kaspersky, but I ran it for so many years on my laptop and its detection was horrible. I used so many other scanners and it would find stuff that kaspersky deemed safe... Not sure how Kaspersky is now but I imagine the same way. In my experience its usually the on demand scanners that find whatever slips through the cracks. Always seemed like to much was getting through with kaspersky. Just my opinionMe too, Kaspersky really deserves to be the product of the year and the others security products that are Top Rated deserve this classification aswell.
In my opinion:
Kaspersky > Emsisoft > Bitdefender = Eset > Avira > Avast > eScan
I'm afraid the strong points of Kaspersky are not intended to be its detection rates, rather the overall capabilities. Thus it boasts much more powerful behavior blocking modules, HIPS, firewall, and other components, which by far surpass those of its competitors (if those competitors actually have such components...)Everyone always says kaspersky, but I ran it for so many years on my laptop and its detection was horrible. Kaspersky always had strong detection of malware in general (trojans/viruses/worms/macros) but it had a purposeful weak protection against Adware/PUPs/Grey area software, it was a policy of Kaspersky Lab.
What kind of infection that "hit" you?
Nowadays Kaspersky is serious at providing protection against PUPs and adware, version 2016 has a module to protect specifically against those threats.
What I really like about Kaspersky software is how synergic it is, everything is covered with its powerful modules and there isnt any weak point.
Kaspersky has an anti-exploit, anti ransonware, anti PUP, privacy protection, Safe Money (against keyloggers), smart firewall, anti executable, HIPS, behavior blocker, web cam/audio protection; and all those modules are great and work together with the cloud (KSN) and traditional signatures + emulator.
Since version 2006 they are leading the market with cutting edge technology; I remember how innovative this version was, some security vendors took many years to adopt some innovations that Kaspersky Lab made with this version.

If you read the PDF,AVC does suggest that as an improvement to Emsisoft would be to put the file guard to "thorough" instead of "balanced",thereby probably strengthening even more it's already very good capabilities!!Emsisoft got bronze award on File Detection section like what the heck? Emsisoft should be next or above BitDefender.
I've being sending samples to Kaspersky for many years, and They have many times a different criteria to add samples... based in my experience, They, for example, usually don't add many cracks/keygens that many others consider as malware, usually (I tested hundreds in VM) are just a simple application that generates a serial number, not harmful at all for users, which others antivirus consider as malware, other times are packers false positive detections that Kaspersky of course don't add, also for long time They didn't add much PUP/PUA/adware, but things changed, and so on...but I ran it for so many years on my laptop and its detection was horrible.
