Please make sure that hardened mode is enabledGreat review, always glad to Avast doing so good considering its my main AV.
I don't personally have it on but I'll turn it on if necessary. Please make sure that hardened mode is enabled
What does hardened mode do? Does it block all downloads or something? I used Avast before and turning on hardened mode blocked every modification, every change in the registry, and every download or installation!I don't personally have it on but I'll turn it on if necessary.

Might've been to agressive
Did you use "exe" extension?Created an EICAR file and saved it.Avast did'nt catch it without a custom scan. But Qihoo IS and Comodo I.S. detected it in a flash and put it into virus vault
Downloading Kingsoft Office Pro was blocked, downloading ThreatFire, Emsisoft, and Malwarebytes were all blocked.I haven't experienced any false positives so far.

Try with medium protection level.Downloading Kingsoft Office Pro was blocked, downloading ThreatFire, Emsisoft, and Malwarebytes were all blocked.
I know it adds layer of proctection on the pc and helps block more unknown files. I think they mainly designed it for inexperienced users. What does hardened mode do? Yes, they said exactly this in the settings. It should be enabled by default.I know it adds layer of proctection on the pc and helps block more unknown files. I think they mainly designed it for inexperienced users.
I don't think anybody here needs it if they can pass the real vs rogue test by Microsoft:I know it adds layer of proctection on the pc and helps block more unknown files. I think they mainly designed it for inexperienced users.

I totally disagree, of coarse it will have better protection but will flag many false positives to the point that it is not useable.Yes, they said exactly this in the settings. It should be enabled by default.
