While I prefer disk space analyzers like WizFile that read the MFT (Master File Table) for NTFS drives, I still believe that for file search utilities, indexing remains the best approach. Indexing is generally more accurate than reading the MFT, especially when dealing with newly created files or folders. There is a reason why Windows continues to use indexing to this day.
