Finally Avast Free has added "limited notification" in the notification settings which shows alerts when a malicious attack is detected, but blocks any pop-up offers. :I approve
So, finally, commercial pop-ups with offers should not appear for those who do not want to view them.
I'm using version 23.12.6094 (build 23.12.8700.813) and UI (1.0.793)

Comparison charts:

Bitdefender Free:

"Offers the most advanced security standards for Windows, macOS, Android and iOS devices" and below not available in the free version.

Avast One Essential:

Antivirus Comparison | Choose the Right Protection | Avast

"Stop webcam spies" and below not available in the free version.

Avast Free:

I think the difference is that for Avast One Free everything is installed (also, no dark mode?), while for Avast Free you have to choose to install features like the firewall, etc.

I wouldn't use any of them.
Bitdefender Free is highly restricted as you can see here.
Meanwhile Avast Free is really invasive with notifications in which they ask you to buy the premium version, although if you are fine with it, it may be a better option than Bitdefender Free.
Bitdefender free blocks controlling these options not disabling them, so it will scan for all mentioned categories, but will not let you change the default settings, you can check this by doing a scan and see the detailed report.

How could Avast beat Bitdefender in protection wise, the active threat detection of Bitdefender is unmatchable?
There is some confusion about whether certain settings in Bitdefender Free are actually active. That's why I said Avast Free, as it seems more complete. If I were certain the settings in Bitdefender Free were working properly, I would choose it instead. When I contacted Bitdefender Support, one support guy said the settings are active, while another said they are not.

as some of our members said for free you can go with Windows Defender and Kaspeksy too(if you are outside the US) in our testing these two are better in terms of having fewer bugs and better protection. Bitdefender is a bug nest not recommended. For Windows Defender, you can use Andy's app(configure Defender) to make it even better. For Avast we tested its protection, not the usability or bugs, and did not have it running for some time to see how it behaves.

Yes, the advanced settings page may let you think the options are disabled, but if you do a scan and check the report you will find that it scanned for all those options.

Bitdefender is very good, it even protects the system many times better than Kaspersky, without needing to be configured.
The problem it has is that it has many processes in ram and sometimes it bugs a little when disinfecting or it takes a long time.
