error message: Kaspersky Security Network is currently not available

but my internet connection is working properly, and I have no other security software installed.
 
Try restart your system first, and let see what happen
Post it here after that
 
restarted a few times, same problem...
 
Are You using some kind of VPN?.

I had the same problem, sometimes it does that. Mine got fixed by updating the database manually. Try updating your database, checking again if it started working?

BTW
is the kaspersky cloud protection worth fussing over, or maybe it's not really so important?

I opened an issue with kaspersky support, but I just thought of something: my ISP does a lot of screening. It's sort of like family protection, but at the ISP level. maybe there is something they are doing that blocks KSN.
 
That issue from KSN is a common on few users affect isolated and likely better report to them by providing the GSI as mentioned above.
