Solved cpu crashes when i plug in internet/ ethernet wire

My cpu runs fine until i plug in the internet. When i do the physical drive the memory and the cpu core all go to 100%. The cpu slows to a crawl. when i try to open applications with internet plugged in the programs freeze. when internet cord is unplugged everything works well



I have McAfee on CPU. could not get to scan uninstalled. attempted to install avg i could not. to run the scan u recommended i had to download thru another cpu and transfer over

I tried doing net stop spooler was recommended on some posts when i did this cpu went back to normal until we plugged internet back in.

i typed in net.exe stop superfetch it helped until Ethernet hooked back up again

So please be patient with me. Also, some infections require less, and some more time to be removed completely, so bear this in mind and be patient.

This computer is not a business cpu it is the computer i use as a volunteer firefighter at bunker hill volunteer fire department (formerly Mt rainier VFD). we are a 501 C3 tax exempt organization. I have been a member for over fifty years. Thank You in Advance

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
  • Install the progam and select update.
  • Once updated, click the Settings tab, in the left panel choose Detection & Protection and tick Scan for rootkits.
  • In the same tab, under PUP and PUM detections make sure it is set to Treat detections as malware.
  • Click the Scan tab, choose Threat Scan is checked and click Start Scan.
  • If threats are detected, click the Apply Actions button. You will now be prompted to reboot. Click Yes.
  • Upon completion of the scan (or after the reboot), click the History tab.
  • Click Application Logs and double-click the Scan Log.
  • At the bottom click Export and choose Text file.
Save the file to your desktop and include its content in your next reply.

  • Right-click on

  • Wait patiently until the main console will appear, it may take a minute or two.
  • In the main box please paste in the following script:

  • Make sure that Scan All Users option is checked.
  • Push Run Script and wait patiently. The scan may take a couple of minutes.
  • When the scan completes, a zoek-results logfile should open in notepad.
  • If a reboot is needed, it will be opened after it. You may also find it at your main drive (usually C:\ drive)

It seems to be running back to normal. it found 4 Trojan injectosr plus some other thing. Do u recommended an antivirus software i never liked McAfee. I have AVG at hom. McAfee was donated to us for being a fire department. I know a few guy do use this cpu. I try to explain not to open any files from email without scanning.

I did notice the physical drive goes to 100% but i think it does that when I'm opening programs. The ram and CPU ones stay at 20%or lower now.
As is aid we are a 5013c charitable Fire department. But i would like to donate money to you organization or at least buy you guys some beers. Where can i send money. We are in Maryland right outside Washington dc if you all are close.. Let me know

hopefully we don't have any other problems i thank you for your time and help. we use these CPU's mostly for quick books and run logs the state needs to show what members were at certain calls. Most are in Linux and other languages if you are familiar. right now thou they all seem to be working correctly when stuff does break i always like to help out the little guy than call geek squad or some other giant entity

Now, we can proceed with post-cleanup procedures. Let's remove my tools and create a new, non infected restore point concurrently deleting old ones.


Step 1. - Creation of system restore point and tools removal.


Download DelFix by Xplode and save it to your desktop.
  • Run the tool by right click on the

    icon and Run as administrator option.
  • Make sure that these ones are checked:
    • Remove disinfection tools
    • Purge system restore
    • Reset system settings
  • Push Run and wait until the tool completes his work.
  • All tools we used should be gone. Tool will create an report for you (C:\DelFix.txt). I don't need it for review.
Tool deletes old system restore points and creates a fresh system restore point after cleaning.

  • Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (paid version highly recommended) - to scan your system from time to time in search for malware.
  • Malwarebytes' Anti-Exploit - to prevent plenty of mostly exploited vulnerabilities.
  • McShield - to prevent infections spread by removable media.
  • Unchecky - to prevent from installing additional foistware, implemented in legitimate installations.
  • Adblock - to surf the web without annoying ads!
