I have installed AVG Internet Security recently, and every time I checked my DNS resolver using dnscheck.tools i find a different nameserver, is that because of AVG firewall?
Please provide comments and solutions that are helpful to the author of this topic.
I can't answer your question, but thanks for posting the link. Nice and easy to read the DNS information.I have installed AVG Internet Security recently, and every time I checked my DNS resolver using dnscheck.tools i find a different nameserver, is that because of AVG firewall?
I see a lot of this alert because I watch Netflix series on non-official websites.I'm not sure but when running a new piece of malware AVG had a new detection alert it's good to see it protect against advanced malware.
Oh, so they use a different name in AVG from what they use in Avast. But anyway, you can uninstall this feature or simply disable it.@SeriousHoax
thank you so much for your answer, I searched for Real Site in AVG, but I didn't find it, instead I found a feature called Fake Website Shield which do the same as Real Site (routes all DNS queries to Avast's own DNS server), when turned off my DNS resets to default.

F-Secure started doing something similar as part of their web filtering. But only for relatively unknown sites. They must have a huge white list. If you do a DNS leak test you’ll definitely see their AWS servers pop up. There’s no way to disable just the DNS filtering there. I like the Avast/AVG approach of a toggle.I'm guessing you have installed the paid version of AVG which should have a feature named Real Site. It routes all DNS queries to Avast's own DNS server. But I never liked this feature since it doesn't tell the user that they are changing the DNS of their system. You can only know through testing and by reading the "How does Real Site work?" part on this FAQ page:
It's possible to choose to not install this feature and you can even remove it after installing the product.Real Site - FAQs | Official Avast Support
