Advice Request Does Windows 8 uses less memory than Windows 7?

I'm considering to install Windows 8.1 on my laptop because it's faster and i like it a lot. Does Windows 8 uses less memory than Windows 7 ,and does it work faster ?
 
yes it does. by default default Win8 use around 5-8% less RAM than Win7 (Win7 must be tweaked to be at same level than win8).

I have dual-boot on my system Windows 7x64/Windows 8.1 x64, I don't have as many programs installed on Windows 8.1 but the RAM usages is about the same using the exact same hardware components. Because I'm not sure it probably depends on what programs you have installed. I know Windows 8.1 will use less RAM if you just use its default security features and don't install third-party security product that run in real-time.
