Well if you want Emsisoft Anti Malware you need to remove Avast IS but Zemana Antilogger can stay since its compatible to Emsisoft.

It is not recommended to have more then one real time scanner active at a time each machine is different. And will react differently but i would say no it's not a good idea to have them both running.

ryan is right, even if it work now without causing issues, 2 real-time AV may conflict when battling for blocking a virus and may let it pass through. only companion AV (who are designed for) can be run with a traditional AV.

Just to clarify that Emsisoft free is a scanner only so it can be compatible to Avast while Emsisoft Anti Malware which have Realtime protection cannot be alongside with Avast or any AV products.

Good job Jack. I have never seen a website, forum or blog giving away so many licenses for so many products..I was away for some time so you really impressed me.

ryan in the official website of emsisoftanti malware it is mentioned that emsisoft does not protect against viruses and it is recommended to use kaspersky or bitdefender with squared and also that emsisoft is sompatible with other security software

Ok let's say its compatible to other security products, but do you think that Emsisoft Anti Malware (with realtime) can be overkill alongside with other AV (like Avast, Avira and etc...)?

yes i use it for 3 years with kaspersky without any probleme both realtime protection activated

But since Emsisoft have 2 engines (Emsisoft and Ikarus Engine) plus with their features it can stand on its own and protect against viruses.

i had test it against viruses and the answer was not good I think it's way the editor recommended to combine it with other antivirus

it is rather specialized in detecting trojans

Question: Is Emsisoft Anti-Malware fully compatible with antivirus or firewall tools?

Answer:Yes.

Emsisoft Anti-Malware was originally designed to be a complementary product to antivirus- and firewall software. Today it is no longer complementary, but instead a full replacement for any antivirus software. Anyway it's still compatible with nearly all other programs.

If you encounter a problem in combination with another program, please tell us. We will solve the problem as quickly as possible.

Please note, that you should turn off other resident guards while running a scan with Emsisoft Anti-Malware. Other guards would check each file twice and the scan would take very long.

So that's good however they are advice to turn off the resident guard while doing scan since the current AV was doing scan in realtime.

Any recommendations on a firewall to use with Emsisoft? I'm using Online Armor right now (CIS was a bit too buggy), but I'm not sure if Emsisoft has something like an HIPS that OA has.

Any thoughts?

Windows 7 Firewall would be my recommendation.Zone Alarm is also a option but I for one , hate having to much security products running in real time.
Using OA Free and Comodo Firewall would cause a overkill, just take a look at Emsisoft features,it's a full security suite.
I used Emsisoft 5 and it's a very good product and if you are a paranoid type, just enable the "Paranoid mode".
