Dear NortonLifeLock Customer,

We are writing to let you know that as of September 20, 2022, we are changing the way we administer Online Banking protection.

Over the years, we have been improving our Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and several other protection features, such as AI-powered behavioral and antivirus engines, which will serve as the backbone to help keep your online banking and financial transactions protected and secure.

NortonLifelock has upgraded IPS to track all incoming/outgoing all network traffic. Additionally, IPS does not require our previous protection features Isolation Mode or Link Guard feature.

Our Intrusion Protection System is powerful and fast, and we are confident that our customers will remain well-protected against ever-increasing online threats. To benefit, customers will need to ensure that they have the latest Norton Safe Web extension, which includes IPS and several other critical browser protections against phishing and scam attacks. To get started, please visit our Safe Web onboarding page and install the latest version of your browser, then our Safe Web extension.

Well, they haven't even fixed a more than 2 years old Norton Safe Web extension bug in Chromium browsers, which has been reported to them several times. The extension stops working if you give it permission to run in incognito/private mode. Firefox's extension is not affected.

Norton Safe Web extension for Chromium browser is terrible, not only it has the bug that you mentioned it demands to run in the background full time, totally unaceptable for me (n)

You're right. Forgot about this one. This happens on Chrome only. They don't ask for this on Edge and Firefox I think don't have this background running feature. Don't know why they need it in Chrome. Very weird.
