New Update F-Secure beta version updates

Some screenshots. Seems like it's practically replaced with Avira? Scan was running, thus the high disk usage :)

Update: After running the scan, the scan summary gives

i am using both of them didnot find diffrence

I had an email regarding scam & the new password system from F-Secure a few days ago though at the moment I'm not using it & as things are its unlikely I will use them again, who knows? It does depend on the phases of the moon & the distance we are from Jupiter I reckon? :p

Speaking of their scam protection:

I do like the Scam Protection. The standalone app would be this, since they said it's included with Total and I.S. I use Brave's ad blocker and uBOL on Chrome, F-Secure's ad block is not as robust as the others are. Brave set to Block trackers & ads, blocked 6, in Aggressive mode, about 2 more. With Brave shield set to Allow all, F-Secure blocked 1 on the BBC World News website.

What can be done then, are they a lost cause, stick a fork in them they're done? And yet, a normal common sense user who isn't downloading the internet everyday could be very secure in using this AV, I know I would be. Especially in tandem with GlassWire free, which I used for the notifications and information, as the Firewall module is off, and wouldn't interfere with F-Secure's Firewall sensor.

An issue for me was the performance issue, system impact in opening apps, even Brave. Now if they could do something about that?

I mentioned it above, and in another post or two regarding the F-Secure and Brave issue of in my case taking up to 5 seconds to load if not longer. It looks like I'm not alone.

I don’t think it’s the antivirus scanner delaying this launch, could be the extensions, hooking, so on.

When launching Brave, are there any processes that have a spike of CPU usage?

Have you tried adding the Brave folder as exclusion (just to check whether the issue is resolved), then removing it?

Edit: I saw on the F-Secure forum that adding Brave as exclusion solves the issue.
The exclusion seems to cover both behavioural monitoring and scanning so it’s hard to tell which one of them causes the delay.

Chromium is open source so it’s not known what modifications Brave (or any other chromium browser developer) implements.

This issue needs to be reported to Brave as well so they can find a solution in cooperation with F-Secure.

Thanks for the reply, but it was more of a Windows 11 issue, seemingly, as on Windows 10 it loads very quickly, normally. And since I uninstalled it from my Windows 11 laptop, I can't follow-up with your good idea(s).

On the forum, I replied that I didn't know if adding it into exclusions (permanently) was a good idea, but the OP said it helped.

It is not a good idea adding any software that can be exposed to unsanitary content (browsers, players, document viewers) to exclusions.

The issue likely stems from incompatibility between Brave-modified Chromium and Avira scanning/behavioural monitoring logics. The APIs that Avira uses on Windows 11 could be different than the ones used on Windows 10.

I am not sure if Avira users are facing the same problem, but then again, the way Avira uses and configures the engines may not necessarily be the same way F-Secure does.

This is one problem with using SDKs vs using software directly from the company that offers them.
Software developers using SDKs don’t have the same deep understanding and knowledge as the people who work on the codebase every day.

This was posted by Ville. I'll uninstall Avast and give it a try, out of curiosities sake :) I'm still not hip to the idea of disabling a feature that's supposed to be helpful to possibly launch Brave quicker, but I'll also look to see if any processes spike as @Trident mentioned in post #187 above.

Try going into Device Protection settings and disabling "Use firewall sensor". See if that makes any difference.

Anyone noticed after running F-Secure online scanner the Avira EPP stays running in the services even after restart? It wasn't the case previously.
