Firefox users may import Chrome extensions now

The feature, which is in testing at the moment, can be enabled by all users of the latest stable version of Firefox.
  1. Load about:config in the browser's address bar.
  2. Confirm that you will be careful to continue.
  3. Search for browser.migrate.chrome.extensions.enabled.
  4. Set the feature to True, which enables it.
  5. Restart Firefox.
Mozilla has integrated it into the browser's import functionality, which users may use on first run or at any time from the Settings page.

To do so, select Menu > Settings > Import Data (button), or load about: preferences#general in the browser's address bar and activate the import data button on the page. Select Chrome from the list, expand the available import options and make sure extensions are checked.

Imports are usually limited to some data, such as bookmarks or the browsing history. Firefox is the first major browser, maybe the first browser at all, that adds extensions to the list of supported imports. The feature is limited at the time to Google Chrome and select extensions.

for edge not work
in chrome not work all extensions !
Extensions
No matching extensions
:(

Well, the author from 'ghacks' mentioned that compatible addons/extensions are limited currently, but more will be supported in the future:
Another downside is that the new import system is not supporting that many extensions at the time of writing. This page on Mozilla's website lists the pairs, of which 73 exist currently.

Imports of extensions such as uBlock Origin, LastPass, AdGuard AdBlocker, Ghostery or BitDefender TrafficLight are already supported.

Plans are underway to extend the list to add more extension pairs to the import feature. It is also likely that imports from other browsers will be supported in the future. Most rely on Chrome's Web Store for extension installs, but some browser makers operate their own stores next to it.

How to configure Firefox Translations in Firefox 117

Starting in Firefox 117 Stable, Firefox users may start using the translate feature natively. Mozilla plans to roll out the feature over time, which means that most Firefox users may start using the new functionality weeks after the release of Firefox 117. Firefox Translations should be enabled for all users from Firefox 118 on.

All Firefox 117 users may, however, enable the functionality right away to use the native translate feature immediately after upgrading to the new stable version of the browser.

This is done in the following way:
  1. Load about:config in the browser's address bar.
  2. Search for browser.translations.enable.
  3. Set the status of the experimental flag to True.
  4. Restart the Firefox web browser.
Setting the status to True enables the translate feature. Setting it to False, disables it.

Firefox should display a language icon in the address bar whenever it identifies a page that uses one of the supported languages, provided that it is not set as a language in Firefox already.

Mozilla has released security updates for all supported versions of its Firefox web browser as well as for the email client Thunderbird. The updates address a critical security issue in WebP that is exploited in the wild.

Firefox users are advised to update the browser immediately to the new version. WebP is an image format that is used widely on the Internet. Mozilla notes that opening a malicious WebP image could "lead to a buffer overflow in the content process", which can result in the execution of malicious code on the user's system.

Firefox 119 will launch with an important address bar change
Mozilla plans to change the information that its open source Firefox web browser displays in the address bar. Once the change lands, Firefox won't display https:// in the browser's address bar anymore, but the http:// protocol. This switcheroo changes the display of the protocol in the browser as current versions of Firefox display https:// but not http://.
Mozilla plans to launch the change in Firefox 119. A number of about:config preferences define the browser's behavior:
  • browser.urlbar.trimHttps -- defines if Firefox displays (FALSE) or hides (TRUE) the https:// protocol.
  • security.insecure_connection_text.enabled -- defines if Firefox displays the "not secure" text next to http:// in the address bar.
  • security.insecure_connection_text.pbmode.enabled -- same as above, but for private browsing mode.
Mozilla will remove two preferences:
  • security.insecure_connection_icon.enabled -- defines if the crossed-out lock icon is displayed when http sites are opened.
  • security.insecure_connection_icon.pbmode.enabled -- same as above, but for private browsing mode.

Firefox accounts renamed to Mozilla accounts - What you need to know

Why the renaming?

Over the years, Firefox accounts expanded its role beyond being solely an authentication solution for Firefox Sync. It now serves as Mozilla's main authentication and account management service for a wide range of products and services, supporting millions of active account customers globally. As such, the original “Firefox” branding no longer accurately reflects the broad scope of Mozilla's offerings. The renaming is intended to create a more consistent brand experience across all Mozilla surfaces, driving higher awareness of the portfolio of Mozilla products.

Do I need to take any steps or create a new account?

No, there is no need to take any steps or create a new account. The renaming is essentially a change in the account's name and branding. You will continue to log in with the same email address and password and retain access to all your account data and subscriptions.

Is my sign-in information changing?

Your sign-in information, including your username and password, will remain the same. The renaming does not involve any changes to your credentials.

Firefox Release 118.0, later today should be ready via built-in auto-updater...

Version 118.0, first offered to Release channel users on September 26, 2023

New

  • Automated translation of web content is now available to Firefox users! Unlike cloud-based alternatives, translation is done locally in Firefox, so that the text being translated does not leave your machine.
  • Web Audio in Firefox now uses the FDLIBM math library on all systems to improve anonymity with Fingerprint Protection.
  • The visibility of fonts to websites has been restricted to system fonts and language pack fonts to mitigate font fingerprinting in Private Browsing windows.
  • Video Effects and background blur are now available to Firefox users on Google Meet! (Note: These effects have also been released retroactively to support Firefox versions back to Firefox 115.)
  • Firefox Suggest users (US-only at this time) will now be able to see browser add-on suggestions right in the address bar based on their keywords.

Fixed
