They both should work fine in parallel. But you have to allow a program in both. If the program will be blocked in any Firewall, then it will be blocked.

on the virtual machine, Fort Firewall doesn't work...

Visual C++ Redistribuable has been installed.

it launches the software but nothing happens, and the icon remains dark not green ... so it doesn't seem to be active

I'll give up and test it another time.

In any case, it seems to be appreciated and to be a good software that seems better than “simplewall”...

With which flags did you install? Service, Portable?

It's up to you, which programs to allow or block.

I'm blocking all Windows services and programs, except:
- `DNSCache` service (with "Block Internet", because it works via router and LAN is not filtered)
- `System` (with "Block Internet")
- `BITS`, `DOSvc`, `WuauServ` services for Windows Update, when needed (grouped into App Group)
