Definitely. Long overdue.OOC comment: does anybody else GDATA needs a GUI rework?![]()
but... I just installed 30 day trial on win10_VM and went very smoothly, nothing unexpected happened. Agree with @Shadowra that "Its protection is very powerful" or that's how it seems so far. I had to "undo" autopilot as its firewall blocked my vpn but easy enough to figure out. Firewall seems strong and informative. I even LIKE the GUI (I must be getting old)Definitely. Long overdue.
This is a bug, had the same thing happening. Better contact them.next day update with G Data: running really well here during the trial period, so I decided to buy a license, clicked the link in app to "Buy Now" and it opened default browser and I paid with paypal, shortly thereafter got a email with a invoice and license number, along with a link to download, but the already installed G Data app is not letting me activate the 30-day version running smoothly on my win10. Do they expect me to DL another copy and install it again just to active a license? If so, seems unnecessary and annoying or am I missing something... the "trial version" certainly seems to be a full version it would be "funny" if it is their firewall blocking the activation... don't know... yet ...![]()
I had already sent them an email. They fixed it & activated my license without replying to my email. fwiw, at least initially, mullvad connects but some DNS glitch so no web pages load, but another vpn is working ok, or seems to be working ok. Liking G Data IS but not necessarily my fav av but seems better than many others...(??)This is a bug, had the same thing happening. Better contact them.
Basically this bug has been there for at least 4 years now.

I don't find it heavy, ie, no slowdowns here, but I recall it tests about in the middle for performance at AV-C (off the top of my head).i tried it last winter and yeah seems doing well but I find it heavy on my system, heavier than Eset definitely…
Extremely heavy at times. More times than not.i tried it last winter and yeah seems doing well but I find it heavy on my system, heavier than Eset definitely…
Middle is quite lenient.I don't find it heavy, ie, no slowdowns here, but I recall it tests about in the middle for performance at AV-C (off the top of my head).

Gdata is a German company which, over the last few years, has begun to make a name for itself on the antivirus market, becoming increasingly popular.
Still using 2 engines (Bitdefender and its own - CloseGap), the publisher seems to have improved its proactive defenses (which were already very good) to beef them up even further, despite a relatively old interface that's starting to gather dust...
Let's take a look together!
User interface :
The interface is clear, but Gdata has changed the icons.
But the publisher has kept it since... 2014 !
It's starting to look a bit dated. A change would be welcome.
Nevertheless, it has the character of being clear and well configured by default, no doubt for brand regulars.
Gdata has also undergone a facelift. Although it reserves around 700MB of RAM, it will use between 200 and 350MB, which is positive !
Web protection: 10/10
On the Web, Gdata's Web filtering and extension blocks all malicious links.
Nothing to say on that score.
Fake crack : 0,80/1
Gdata correctly blocks malware attempting to install itself, with the exception of .CPL, which will use rundll32.exe
Fortunately, it won't take any action, probably because its C&C server is down.
Malware Pack : Remaining 6 out of 667 threats.
I must admit I'm very surprised by his performance...
Gdata has given us back a completely infection-free machine!
The scripts were detected thanks to its powerful AMSI shield, capable of blocking the connection to download various Payloads.
Only one file was not recognized, which replaced my wallpaper with a photo of a manga (which I replaced with my own), but there was no malicious action.
Completely healthy machine! Congratulations!
Final scan :
GData : 0
NPE : 0
Autoruns : 0 malicious keys
KVRT: 1 (A non-active .CPL file)
Emsisoft : 0
Malwarebytes : 0
Final opinion:
Gdata is a powerful antivirus that can easily compete with the likes of Kaspersky and Bitdefender.
Its protection is very powerful, and its behavioral blocking (BEAST) is very formidable!
It has made up for many of its shortcomings by becoming relatively lightweight.
Gdata is, of course, highly recommendable!
After this test, do you think you would get as good results with Gdata AV, or is the AV subpar to IS and TS
