New Update Ghostery updates

For the first time I get a website not detecting Ghostery while detecting both uBOL and uBO.

I tried visiting these websites with Ghostery enabled and it worked fine without being detected, while UBOL is detected and a pop-up appears asking to disable it.

Not doing any forensic analysis here, but I must say Ghostery works for me on Chrome. Very happy.

My personal opinion is that Ghostery is getting better and better, and it's known on Github that they're paying attention and working on fixing many issues.

Not detected with uBlock Origin on Firefox, but it's helpful to know which ad blocker to pick in case I switch to the Chromium browser later.

Can anyone tell me exactly (without guessing) how Ghostery updates
automatically, or can I also do it manually? What exactly does it update?

Does it update filter lists, cookie pop-up blockers, etc.?

no incremental updates - at Ghostery, we publish updates to our ad blocking list daily. Yet Manifest V3, which was designed to reduce extension review times, would force us to release a new extension version each time we update the block list. Some updates are allowed in a form of dynamicRules, but the number of entries is limited to 5,000 and it has to be shared with user controls, which makes it unusable.

“Update Now” generally means: Fetch the latest filtering/tracker databases immediately.” — not: “Upgrade the extension version itself.”

Ad-blocking filters update automatically without requiring a full browser-extension upgrade.
Manual Filter Update — Trigger filter list updates on demand from settings.

Settings → General Settings → Update Now

So if something breaks (YouTube, Google, cookie popups, etc.), forcing a filter update may fix it immediately without waiting for a full extension update.

In my opinion it's excellent on Firefox, it's fast, effective, they're increasing the features and graphically it's very pleasant.
